SOS MEDICAL TEAM AT SUMTER NATIONAL ENDURO
The NEPG is proud to announce that the SOS medical team will be offering their assistance as mobile medical professionals at the Magna1 AMA National Enduro in Sumter, SC on Feb 5th.
SOS (Safety On Site) was founded by Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Marc Tanner in response to the need for an efficient and physician-led medical response at off-road racing events. Under Dr. Tanner’s medical direction, SOS is becoming a network of medical professionals and advisors to support extreme sports with the assistance of Josh Yeatman, Paramedic/Racer, off-road racing legend Stew Baylor, and Shelly Tanner, BSRT.
At the Sumter National Enduro event, Dr. Tanner will be in the red evaluation tent in the pits with his OXOS Medical portable x-ray machine and medical supplies. He will be available to any injured racer to triage and then treat on site when appropriate. For this event, SOS will also have a first-out paramedic on motorcycle and a transport-capable UTV for extrication. SOS will work in a joint effort with the SERMA Club safety team to help get riders out of the woods to be triaged and treated as quickly as possible.
SOS is committed to “a safer racing community” and needs support as they grow in capacity and continue offering care. SOS does not charge anything for their services and depends on donations and sponsorships.
